Vignerons de la Sainte Victoire

A national label

Created in 2009, the Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to develop and structure France’s wine tourism offer, while promoting the quality approach implemented within each certified destination. It is awarded by Atout France for a renewable 3-year period to wine tourism destinations offering a wide range of complementary services (accommodation, restaurants, cellar tours and tastings, museums, events, etc.), helping visitors organise their stay and guiding them towards recognised, high-quality providers.

All services bearing the Vignobles & Découvertes label meet a set of demanding criteria, including a warm welcome in French or another language, a strong connection to the world of wine, a commitment to sharing knowledge, authenticity, and openness to natural, cultural and human heritage.

Visitors may enjoy accommodation in the heart of the vineyards, restaurants showcasing local food and wine pairings, menus featuring regional produce, or cellars ready to welcome them. A selection of remarkable heritage sites, activities and events is also available to enrich the experience and reveal all the treasures and know-how of each destination.

The stakes for the wine tourism economy are significant: attracting more visitors to vineyard regions, strengthening their visibility and boosting wine sales. It is a key sector for destinations, embodying the values of the French art of living, the search for meaning, encounters and shared experiences — all perfectly aligned with today’s tourist expectations. Wine tourism is a dynamic market, both economically and culturally, with vineyards playing a fundamental role in France’s image and reputation abroad.

  • Every year, around 12 million tourists explore French vineyards, generating €5.2 billion in expenditure.
  • Foreign visitors account for 45%, with the top markets being the UK, Belgium and the USA.

The Vignobles & Découvertes Federation

Created in 2019, the Vignobles & Découvertes Federation brings together all French winegrowing territories certified with the national Vignobles & Découvertes label. Its mission is to identify, promote and develop high-quality wine tourism for the general public, while helping professionals strengthen and structure their tourism offer.

Today, the Federation brings together 77 certified destinations across France and represents nearly 8,000 labelled services.

Chaired by Michel Chapoutier, winegrower and négociant in the Rhône Valley, the Federation structures its work around four main missions:

1

A platform for exchange

fostering dialogue among labelled regions and between the tourism and wine sectors.

2

Representing the sector

by advocating for the wine tourism industry and defending its interests with decision-makers and public authorities.

3

Supporting research and observation

through studies and monitoring carried out in collaboration with Atout France and FranceAgriMer.

4

Promoting the French wine tourism offer

by enhancing the label and coordinating the Federation’s flagship event: Vignobles en Scène, the Vignobles & Découvertes Days.
